Five interior design tips

It’s never easy to design the interior of a home, with so many options to choose from. There are however quite a few tips and tricks out there. At VIP Environment we have selected five interior design tips to make it easier for you to design your home.

1. Go really dark or really light in small rooms

It can be very difficult to decorate and renovate a small room, simply because its small. Light colours can help by reflecting all the natural light that enters through the windows or door of the room. Embrace all the natural light that enters the room by choosing a very light grey or calming whites for a light room. The other option is to go really dark, to give the walls an illusion of receding. To do this you need to choose a dark colour and the right lights. Dark colours can quickly give a room that special luxury interior design feeling.

2. Select the right mirrors

Mirror mirror on the wall, can completely transform a room. Mirrors can be used in so many different ways with different purposes. It can add light, open up a wall, increase the room size feeling and it can make the ceiling look higher. Mirrors also come in all different shapes and sizes, which makes them perfect in all rooms. Choose a mirror that reflects the feel of the room as well as your personality, a mirror isn’t just a mirror.

3. Use baskets

Wicker, metal or cotton, no matter what material you choose for your basket, they make a great addition to any room. Baskets add that extra storage unit to all rooms and they provide a great detail to the room by being placed under end tables, in TV stands or next to the coffee table. It’s a great way to accessorise your living room furniture and bedroom furniture.

4. Rugs all over the place

Adding contemporary rugs to any room is the perfect way to soften floors, and it can also be used as a way to decorate empty walls. Using rugs as a part of your luxury interior design adds a warming and calming feeling to the room.

5. Avoid too many legs

When looking for dining room furniture, many people will choose furniture with a lot of legs. Go for a dining room table with one leg or two at the most to make the space around the table more open. High end furniture brands such as Hülsta offer dining tables with this elegant solution, such as Hülsta’s T80 and T90 tables. Choosing chairs without four legs can also help make more space around the table, choose a freestanding base, like the Hülsta S300.
